David Steptoe

Dave started his involvement in music by playing the piano and was taught by the one and only Howard Jones at Stokenchurch.  (I’m sure you 80’s followers will remember his hits – “wouldn’t it be good” , “like to get to know you well”)

Dave first started playing the trombone at the age of 8, it was a choice of the trombone or French horn, I think you will agree he made the right choice.

His first band was down the bottom of his garden playing the drums in his dad’s garage and providing backing vocals.  Obviously Dave’s family had understanding neighbours (have you heard him sing).  Dave went to Wycombe music centre and played at various venues, one of which being the Royal Albert Hall, he has also jammed with Screaming Lord Such and Some Like It Hot.

Unfortunately Dave’s music diploma, which he went on to study was cut short due to an illness, but this did not stop his music involvement continue.  He has played in a number of different types of bands; Brass Bands, Orchestra’s, Big Bands and performed in too many shows to remember, from Reading’s Hexagon, High Wycombe’s Swan to old music halls over the last 20 years.

Along with his music, Dave’s other love (apart from his family) is football, being an avid West Ham supporter (yes they do have some) and playing for various local teams along side the likes of Mark West (West Ham, Wycombe Wanderers), Kevin Keen (West Ham, Wolves) and Graham Bressington (Southend).

Dave enjoys most kinds of music, including classical, pop and was brought up with the likes of Madness, The Specials, The Police, Squeeze, Wings, Supertramp and Level 42.

Dave has 4 gorgeous children and 2 grand children and a VERY understanding wife.

Oh, and in his spare time he runs a business.
